The Department of Economics started functioning in 1978 with UG Programme B.A. Special Economics. It is also compulsory for Commerce Students. Since its inception, the department is marching forward with more and more strength and enthusiasm with the support of committed teachers and students. We are upholding the rich tradition of Assumption College with flying colours in curricular and co-curricular activities.

                                       The Economics department creates a stimulating environment for the academic growth of its students and provides them with a thorough understanding of a range of subjects such as Indian Economics, Micro Economics. The faculty member of the Department is known for their expertise in Indian Economics.
